WHAT IS A WIL-TORQ BUCKING UNIT?
A WIL-TORQ bucking unit is a horizontally mounted, hydraulically powered rotating pipe closed-head tong assembly with jaws that grip and rotate a tubular coupling, while a non-rotating sliding backup assembly grips the body of the tubular as two joints are threaded together.
The drive head assembly, HPU, backup assembly, and control system are mounted on the frame of the bucking unit as a compact, self-contained system.

WHAT ARE THE KEY FEATURES OF A WIL-TORQ BUCKING UNIT?
MAX SPEED OF 76 RPM
Make-up and break-out oil and gas downhole tools, casing, tubing, and similar components faster with a drive head capable of 76 RPM.
SELF-CONTAINED COMPACT UNIT
The WIL-TORQ make/break unit is a self-contained machine built on a rugged, engineered frame that houses the tong drive head assembly, backup assembly, a built-in Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU), and control panel.
GEAR DRIVEN DRIVE HEAD
The gear driven design requires minimal maintenance. Maintenance can be logged in the WIL-TORQ Torque Monitoring Software which can provide reminders based on machine run time.
FIVE-JAW GRIPPING SYSTEM
WIL-TORQ uses the familiar 5-Jaw and Jaw Carrier Gripping System making replacement parts abundantly available and the system easy and cost-effective to maintain.
SLIDING BACKUP
Standard WIL-TORQ bucking units provide a backup mounted on either an 8′ or 10′ slide and can be adjusted the full range to ensure your backups grips the pipe at the optimal distance from the drive head.
Additionally, we offer engineered modular backup extensions that can increase travel lengths from 8′ to 24′.
MODULAR DESIGN
Our control console, hydraulic power units, and generators can each be offered as separate units detached from the bucking unit frame.

INTUITIVE CONTROL PANEL
The WIL-TORQ unit is user-friendly with a simple yet highly functional control panel that features a start/stop switch, torque adjustment control knob, drive head gear switch (high/low), backup control switch (engage/disengage), emergency stop button, drive head control joystick (1-axis, dual direction), and optional Wil-Torq Torque Monitoring System.

What is the maximum make-up and break-out torque of the WIL-TORQ bucking unit?
Wil-Tech currently offers two standard models WIL-TORQ 11000 & WIL-TORQ 16000 capable of either 11,000 & 16,000 lb/f of torque respectively.
We build custom bucking units so if these don’t meet your required torque specs contact us and we will work with you to meet your needs.
Does Wil-Tech provide 24/7 breakdown assistance of the WIL-TORQ bucking unit ?
